Oliver Blond: Academic Director and Deputy Course Director for PTI Residentials

Oliver Blond is Headteacher of The Henrietta Barnett School in North London and an English and Drama specialist by training. He has worked in a variety of schools across London, including as Head of English and Drama at Wimbledon High School and as Deputy Head at North London Collegiate School. He has been involved in the Prince of Wales Education Summer Schools since they began in 2001.

After an English degree at Bristol University, Bernice McCabe taught for sixteen years in mixed comprehensives in Bristol and London, including five years as Head of English and four years as Deputy Head of The Heathland School, Hounslow. Since 1990, she has been a Headmistress: for seven years of Chelmsford County High School, a girls’ grammar, and since 1997 of North London Collegiate, a large 4 – 18 independent school. She has served on national education committees in the maintained and independent sectors, including the National Curriculum Advisory Committee since 2010. She was appointed in 2001 to direct the first Prince of Wales Education Summer School and became Co-Director of The Prince’s Teaching Institute when it was founded in 2006.

Before joining The Prince’s Teaching Institute in 2007, Christopher Pope was Vice President, Artists & Repertoire at the Decca Music Group, responsible for Decca’s artistic strategy by signing new artists and determining recording policy. He had previously been a Decca producer from 1990-98, before gaining an MBA at the London Business School and working with McKinsey & Co as a management consultant. He began his career at the BBC, having read Music at St Anne’s College, Oxford.

Martin Roberts studied history at Merton College, Oxford and taught in four schools, one grammar and three comprehensive. The last of these was The Cherwell School, Oxford, of which he was headteacher from 1981 to 2002. He has been Deputy President and is a Fellow of the Historical Association, as well as writing a number of history books for secondary pupils both in England and abroad. He has been a governor of two secondary schools and is presently Chair of Trustees of an early years charity in Oxford.

James Sabben-Clare was Headmaster of Winchester College for fifteen years, and in 1999 was Chairman of the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference. Latterly he has worked as an Education Consultant, in this country and overseas, and has been involved in the development of PTI from its very first beginnings in 2001. He has been, and continues to be, a governor of numerous schools and colleges, ranging from Primary to HE, both independent and maintained. 

 

Stephen MilesStephen Miles: Schools Programme Director

Stephen Miles is currently Head of English at Worle Community School, and previously Senior Lecturer in English ITE at Bath Spa University. He has been involved with The Prince's Teaching Institute since attending the first residential, and has overseen the Schools Programme from its inception. He has been passionate about English and education for twenty years and has a particular interest in the history of Children’s Literature.

 

 

Julia Bagguley: Honorary Secretary

Julia Bagguley is a former solicitor by training, specialising in the regulation and governance of a number of high-profile businesses in the UK and abroad including Greene King plc, De La Rue plc and Cadbury Schweppes plc. She was Company Secretary and latterly a Trustee of the charity Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities from 2002-2009. In parallel, her interest in art resulted in her completing a Diploma in Fine & Decorative Art at Christie's Education in 2002 and she now works as a Cataloguer in the Collections Information Team at the Royal Collection.
