2011/12 Course Information
About the Courses
In 2011/12 the PTI will be running Subject Day Courses in:
- English
- History
- Geography
- Mathematics
- Biology (for Biologists)
- Chemistry (for Chemists)
- Physics (for Physicists)
In order for the courses to be tailored to suit the requirements of the trainees as closely as possible, the PTI will perform a knowledge audit in July 2011, which will determine the exact topics that the days will cover.
The days will be similar to the existing highly-rated PTI one day CPD courses, consisting of a combination of lectures from experts in the subject (such as academics from the University of Cambridge subject faculties) and workshops led by experienced teachers who will be drawn from PTI Schools Programme departments.
The courses consist of six days during the 2011/12 academic year. Please note that partial attendance is NOT permissible. These days are:
- Saturday 5th November
- Saturday 3rd December
- Saturday 28th January
- Saturday 25th February
- Saturday 17th March
- Saturday 26th May
They will be held at Pimlico Academy, Lupus Street, London SW1V 3AT. Pimlico Academy is centrally located in London, close to Victoria Station, with good links to all of the London mainline train terminals.
The course will run in principle from 10:00am to 4.00pm (exact times to be confirmed) in order to allow participants from schools across England to participate. (Please note that as this course is a pilot, the PTI will reimburse reasonable travel costs of those trainees attending from outside Transport for London London Zone 6).
Please note that the courses are only open to school-based Teacher Trainees (e.g. GTP/OTTP/SCITT/Teach First) and Newly Qualified Teachers.
