2013 Summer School for History Teachers
The Prince's Teaching Institute is holding a History Summer School at Homerton College, University of Cambridge from Monday 24th - Wednesday 26th June 2013. The course will include lectures, seminars and workshops by eminent speakers and academics from the University of Cambridge faculties. Confirmed speakers include:
- Professor Peter Hennessy, Attlee Professor of Contemporary British History at Queen Mary, University of London, author of The Secret State, and Having it so good: Britain in the fifties.
- Historian and broadcaster Michael Wood (right), presenter of The Story of India (2007), Michael Wood's Story of England (2010) and The Great British Story: A People's History (2012)
The course will also include a field visit to Sidney Sussex College, featuring a guided tour by the college archivist, Nicholas Rogers. A full programme of events can be found here.
Attendance at the Summer School will entitle the participant to join The Prince's Teaching Institute Schools Programme.
Places on the Residential cost £495 (£395 for delegates from schools that have other departments affiliated to the PTI Schools Programme). This includes all board, accommodation and materials, as well as the first year of membership of the Schools Programme for departments that attend, leaving schools and delegates responsible for cover, transport and any out of pocket expenses.
