Year 7 preparing to perform Pyramus and ThisbeWe have had a very busy year in our first year of membership within the Schools Programme.
At KS3, we have rewritten all of our schemes of work for Year 7, in order to ensure that the students have a conception of the ways in which Literature has developed throughout the ages. As part of our unit on A Midsummer Night’s Dream the students were asked to take on the role of the Mechanicals and perform the play, 'Pyramus and Thisbe'.

At KS4 and KS5, we have hosted a series of Careers in the Humanities events in order to promote the subjects of English and History, by inviting ex-students who have pursued exciting careers in these fields to come in and share their experiences with our students. Having taken inspiration from the excellent work done at other schools within the programme, we have also organized a successful series of ‘Challenge’ seminars for students in Year 10, 11 and Year 12. We have just announced the student winner of our very own Gumley House Poet Laureate competition and look forward to working with her in order to encourage our students to let a little more poetry into their lives.
