History Department

Rednock SchoolAt Rednock School, the History Department aims to instil an interest and understanding of History in all students. As part of the Prince’s Teaching Institute programme, History teachers attended courses in which they were encouraged to share ideas with other professionals and to reflect on how and why History is taught and how it can reach students of all abilities and backgrounds.

The History curriculum at Rednock encompasses the key aspects of British and World History, and aims to provide students with an undRednock School 2erstanding of the modern world and their place in it. Students are encouraged to develop their study skills by working independently, as well as in pairs and groups. Students are given opportunities to develop their talents in History outside the classroom by participating in a range of events.

Membership of the Prince’s Teaching Institute has encouraged our History teachers to celebrate their work, not only in the classroom but beyond by organising trips, conferences, outside speakers and activities such as competitions and debates. The highlight of the trips calendar remains our annual Battlefields Rednock School 3tour, whilst closer to home we are extending our provision for our Gifted and Talented historians through a programme of lectures on topics ranging from the Vikings to Vietnam.

Rednock School is a comprehensive school located in Dursley, Gloucestershire for pupils aged 11-18.
