St. Ursula's Convent School

St. Ursula's Students at GreenwichOne of St. Ursula's Convent School objectives as part of the PTI programme was to offer educational trips for all year groups in the school (years 7-11) and this has proved to be very successful.  We have taken year 7 to Dover Castle, year 8 on a historical walk around Greenwich, year 9 to learn about the Holocaust at the Imperial War Museum and year 10 to learn about Nazi Germany at the IWM.  St.Ursula's Students at GreenwichOne of the trips we did with year 11 was cross-curricular with Drama and English, and we took the pupils to see a film which was being shown as part of Black History month.

I have set up a History Club in which pupils can study different periods of history which may not be covered in their lessons.  I have also encouraged the pupils to enter competitions such as the Historical Fiction story competition and the Young Historian Project run by the Historical Association.  Two of our pupils won prizes in the Young Historian Project, with a StUrsulas Students 2year 11 pupil winning first place in her category with an essay on why the Nazis were successful and a year 9 pupil winning second place in her category with a piece of work on how Lewisham was affected during World War Two.

St. Ursula's Convent School was founded by the Ursuline Order in 1877, in Greenwich.  The school admits girls of all abilities from ages 11-16.
