Application Process
The application and participation process has three parts which enable the Schools Programme to recognise good practice:
1. Reflection - the production of a snapshot of the school's current provision in the Programme subject area(s).
2. Celebration - a demonstration of how the criteria required for the PTI Schools Programme are currently met or how your school aspires to meet them. This should identify three areas of exceptional, innovative work that you feel your department provides.
3. Development - the identification of aspirations for further progress.
The application is divided into three sections:
Section 1 consists of reflection on the subject within the school and a celebration of the department’s commitment to excellence, related to the PTI Schools Programme aims, as well as details about the school. This is completed electronically, and e-mailed back to the Prince’s Teaching Institute prior to the annual Summer School.
Section 2 is a statement of ambition and intent to develop, related to the PTI Schools Programme aims. Applicants should complete a draft of this section before the Summer School, although it will be finalised during the Summer School, following the opportunity to share experiences and ideas with other delegates.
Section 3 must be signed by the Head of Department and Headteacher after the Summer School. It represents confirmation that the objectives discussed at the Summer School have been agreed and shared by the department, school management and any other partners that may be involved.
For each section, the information supplied may be written specifically for the application process or be supplied via provision of copies of documents or extracts from documents that already exist in school. It is not the intention of the PTI Schools Programme scheme to add to the burden of producing evidence, but to focus this process on real and worthwhile progress in standards.
If you would like to apply to join the Schools Programme, your Head of Department, or a designated member of staff, will be required to attend an entire Summer School for induction. Please click on the Summer School link at the top of the page to register for any upcoming events.
Schools Programme membership places are limited by the number of places available at the summer school, and will be given to successful applicants on a first-come first-served basis. You are therefore encouraged to apply early to avoid disappointment.
