Adèle Geras

 
Adèle Geras was born in Jerusalem in 1944. She was educated at Roedean School, Brighton and St. Hilda's College, Oxford where she studied French and Spanish.

Since 1976, she has been a full-time writer. She has published more than 90 books for children of all ages and has a particular interest in the past, and in historical fiction. For Primary children, her best-known books are A Candle in the Dark (A &C Black) and Lizzie’s Wish/Cecily’s Portrait (Usborne) which are part of the Historical House series of novels. A book about Cleopatra for young readers will appear in September, 2007. She is the author of three novels for adults, published by Orion and also of a poetry collection, published by Rockingham Press.

She and her husband have lived in Manchester for the last 40 years and they have two daughters and two grandchildren. She loves: reading, the movies, going to anything that takes place in a theatre, and writing lots of e-mails. She is also an unrepentant watcher of a great deal of television. Cats are her favourite animal. She hates: air travel and milk puddings.
 
 

Brian Moses

 
Brian Moses first worked as a teacher but has now been a professional children¹s poet for 19 years. To date he has over 170 books published including volumes of his own poetry such as Taking Out the Tigers(Macmillan),anthologies such as The Secret Lives of Teachers  and Aliens Stole My Underpants(both Macmillan) and picture books such as i  andTrouble at the Dinosaur Cafe(both Puffin). His Selected Poems for children Behind the Staff Room Door will be published by Macmiilan in July 2007 along with a lift the flap picture book The Sssnake Hotel. Over 850,000 copies of Brian’s poetry books have now been sold by Macmillan and in 2005 he was nominated for both the CLPE Award and the Spoken Word Award.                               

Brian also visits schools to run writing workshops and perform his own poetry and percussion shows.   To date he has visited well over 2200 schools and libraries throughout the UK. He has made several appearances at the Edinburgh Festival, been writer in residence at Castle Cornet on Guernsey, on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway and at RAF schools in Cyprus.  Recently he has visited several International schools in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, France and  Ireland. In September 2006 he was invited to Iceland to take part in Kids in the Marsh - a festival of children’s poetry and song. He is married with two daughters and lives in a tiny village in East Sussex.
