The Romantic poets were in constant conversation with one another and 'riffed' on each other's work like Jazz musicians with a Jazz standard.
This can be used in the classroom by:
- Asking students to put two poems, or parts of poems, together to reveal common themes and techniques.
Ewan Scott, Head of English at Wren Academy, was inspired to suggest this teaching idea after hearing Professor Gregory Dart (University College London) speak about Romantic poetry and the night at the CPD Subject Day on Romantic poetry in the secondary classroom.
